Job Summary:
We are looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and skilled Carpenter, who is self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast moving environments and can effectively meet deadlines.
Duties and responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
• Installing windows, doors, mouldings and hardware;
• Install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems;
• Measuring, cutting and shaping lumber, wood and other building materials;
• Preparing layouts meetings to building codes, using measuring tools;
• Attaching building materials using screws, nuts and bolts;
• Creating temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists;
• Studying blueprints, sketches and drawings to determine specifications and calculate requirements;
• Coordinating materials ordering and delivery: ensure timely delivery, check all job tickets to ensure proper delivery of all items to minimize labour and maximize efficiency and minimize trips to hardware stores;
• Performing framing, nailing, finishing and installation of cabinetry for residential and/or commercial applications, in accordance with a variety of high-end specifications;
• Examining wood surfaces for defects and perform repairs using scraper, sponge, electric iron and sanding tools;
• Aligning, join and fasten materials, repair or replace defective locks, hinges and other accessories;
• Building foundations, install floor joist and building walls and roof systems;
• Maintaining, repair and renovate wooden structures;
• Performing repairs on existing framework structures that are damaged;
• Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
• Maintaining professionalism while working at customer sites.
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary degree or diploma from a recognized college/university is required.
• Experience leading a team;
• Trade school preferred considered as asset;
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a carpenter;
• Strong skills in cabinetry, structural support and framing;
• Complete expanded inventory of hand and power tools;
• Knowledge of basic building code requirements;
• Knowledge of basic mechanical requirements;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Proficient project and time management skills;
• Work closely with designers, woodworkers, and different teams to establish congruency with projects;
• Team player, motivator for others, detail-oriented and results-driven;
• Good physical condition and endurance (able to lift over 25 pounds);
• Good understanding of math as well as imperial and metric sizing;
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings (blueprints); and
• Safety focused.
