Registered Apprenticeship Certificate or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 6 years in heavy duty equipment repair and maintenance
WORK SITE ENVIRONMENT
- Non-smoking
- Noisy
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repairs required
- Order parts and maintain inventory
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
- Keep maintenance reports and documentation
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work
- Perform repair work on heavy trucks
- Service attachments and working tools
- Perform other routine maintenance tasks as required
REQUIRED CREDENTIALS
- Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
- Truck and Coach Service Licence (310T)
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZATIONS
- Diesel Engine Repair Specializations: Fuel injection system, Exhaust system, Cooling system, Air conditioning system, Lubrication system, Engine control system, Major internal engine repairs or overhaul
- Powered Equipment Repair Specializations: Cable-operated working attachments, Hydraulic-operated working attachments, Compressors, Pumps, Telescopic ladder, Electric generators, Industrial lift trucks, and fork-lifts
- Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Specializations: Mechanical transmissions, Drive trains and final drives, Hydraulic transmissions, Power take-offs, Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, Highway vehicle tires and wheels, Off-road vehicle tires and wheels, Differentials, Brake system

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES
- Physically demanding work
- Attention to detail required

- Standing for extended periods
- Weight handling up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
