Job Summary:

The position involves creating and modifying CAD drawings, collaborating with architects and engineers, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with design and construction standards.


Duties and responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Using CAD software, create and modify CAD drawings and develop and update architectural drawings and blueprints to ensure accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
• Collaborating with architects and engineers by working closely with them and other construction professionals to understand design requirements. We also incorporate feedback into CAD models.
• Preparing technical documentation by generating detailed documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details, to support architectural projects.
• Conducting design reviews by reviewing design plans and specifications to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies before construction begins.
• Ensuring compliance by verifying that designs adhere to building codes, regulations, and industry standards and making necessary adjustments to meet compliance requirements.
• Coordinating project details by managing and coordinating revisions and updates to ensure the timely completion of design phases. This will ensure alignment with project timelines.
• Updating and maintaining CAD files by organizing and ensuring all project documents are up-to-date and accessible for team members and stakeholders.
• Assisting with project management by supporting project managers in tracking progress, managing schedules, and communicating with clients and contractors.
• Providing technical support by troubleshooting CAD software and design-related issues to team members and stakeholders.
• Staying current with technology by keeping updated with CAD technology advancements and architectural design practices to incorporate updated tools and techniques into workflows.
• Participating in design meetings by attending and contributing to discussions to ensure alignment between design goals and project execution.
• Assisting in material selection by supporting materials and finishes with detailed CAD drawings and specifications;
• Providing and creating technical/engineering drawings using Revit and information/specifications for engineering reports;
• Applying for building permit applications;
• Developing company drawing standards, templates and details.
• Attending sites, obtaining site measurements and gathering information on the scope of repair as required and
• Collaborating with company engineers.

Qualifications:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design or in a similar discipline;
• 2+ years' experience in architectural services and design;
• Proven expertise in designing architectural projects, including concept development, space planning, interior design, and sustainable design practices;
• Proficiency in creating architectural drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and BIM (Building Information Modeling), and in generating blueprints and technical drawings;
• Strong structural knowledge, including experience in structural analysis, understanding of building materials and construction methods, load calculations, and ensuring code compliance and accurate construction documentation;
• Skilled in site investigation and analysis, with experience in on-site investigations for building deficiencies, fire loss assessments, vehicle impact assessments, tree impact assessments, site surveying, and detailed note-taking and documentation;
• Demonstrated project management abilities, including project planning and scheduling, budget management, client consultation and communication, team collaboration, and maintaining quality control and assurance;
• Proficiency in software tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Rhino 3D, V-Ray, and Microsoft Office Suite;
• Efficiency in communicating in English;
• Experience in project management;
• Highly skilled in technical skills and should be pro in problem solving and critical thinking;
• Strong technical skills in creating detailed technical drawings, building performance analysis, energy modelling, and conducting environmental impact assessments;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in presentation and report writing;
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, including analytical skills, design problem-solving, creative solutions, and attention to detail;
• Previous roles as a Computer-Aided Design Technician and Architectural Designer are highly desirable, and
• Proficiency in relevant CAD software and design tools is essential.
