Café La Forêt in Burnaby, BC is looking for a Head Chef to work with our team.
Title: Head Chef
Opening: 1 position (Permanent, Full-time)
Salary: CAD 33.00 – CAD 35.00 per hour, At least 30 hours per week
Benefit: 4% of gross pay or 10 days of paid vacation, Extended health and dental benefits after 6 months of employment
Location: 6848 Jubilee Avenue, Burnaby, BC V5J 4B3
Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school education is required
• Several years of experience in commercial food preparation
• At least 2 years in a supervisory role, with experience as a sous-chef or specialist chef
Main Duties:
• Manage and direct food preparation and cooking operations in the kitchen
• Coordinate special orders and large-scale events
• Develop menus and ensure that all dishes meet high-quality standards
• Determine food requirements, estimate both food and labour expenses
• Oversee activities of sous-chef, specialist chefs, and cooks
• Handle the buying and repair of kitchen equipment
• Recruit and hire kitchen staff
