RESPONSIBILITIES

Working under general direction from the Maintenance Manager, the Licensed Industrial Electrician is responsible for specializing in the maintenance, repair, installation, and improvement of electromechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC’s (programmable logic controls), and industrial robots in plastics injection and blow-moulding plant equipment. The Licensed Industrial Electrician will perform preventative maintenance work, troubleshoot, and conduct machine repairs/modifications and equipment changeovers. The Electrician also works in conjunction with the Set-up Technicians and Production Supervisors to quickly resolve any production issues.

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
• Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
• Conduct all repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on all injection and blow-moulding production equipment in the plant, including electromechanical system work (pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC’s), with knowledge of 600 V AC and lower field wiring, and test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
• Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
• Repair and post moulding equipment, and build any post moulded equipment when required
• Build fixtures and/or gauges, and repair or replace sensors and drivers, and may install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• Maintain all lifting devices and equipment
• Troubleshoot all robot or automation equipment, and maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
• Rig and install all new equipment in the building
• Recommend improvements for quick tool changes
• Implement and maintain 5S within the department
• Participate in Kaizen and other operational excellence events
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, conduct preventive maintenance programs, keep maintenance records, and ensure safety throughout the plant

Requirements:
• Completion of post-secondary diploma or certification program with a concentration in electrical or electromechanical systems
• Must have an Industrial Electrician (442A) License, with a strong knowledge of electromechanical systems and programming
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent technical/electromechanical experience in a blow (including mono and multi-layer processes) and injection molding manufacturing environment.
• Experience using machinery up to 2,500 tonnes
• Experience with machines such as but not limited to Engel machinery, Nissei machinery and JSW machinery
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and controls is required
• Experienced in Preventative Maintenance and Work Order Systems, report writing, and CMMS, preferably Limble
• Experience working in a fast-paced and highly changing environment with limited supervision

Work conditions are consistent with a manufacturing plant environment. The Industrial Electrician is routinely required to use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. This role also requires a moderate degree of physical fitness, as it requires use of appropriate muscles to lift, pull, push, or carry heavy objects totaling up to 75lbs; standing for long periods of time; frequent bending or twisting of the body; repeating the same movements; kneeling, stooping, crouching, or crawling; and climbing on top of machinery with the use of electric equipment, ladders, or scaffolds. The Industrial Electrician must also be able to work near moving mechanical machinery, and must be able to work in an environment with high noise levels (hearing protection required).
