Work setting: Rural, Urban, Commercial, Residential, Sidewalks and Curbs
Type of materials: Colours and sealers, Lightweight concrete, Reinforcing membrane and Protective covering, hardeners and epoxies, Mastic flooring
Work Condition: Fast-paced environment, Overtime when operations require
Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Physically demanding, Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 80-100 lbs, Bending, crouching kneeling, standing for extended periods
Personal Suitability: Flexibility, Accuracy, Safety-orientated
Own tools/equipment: CSA approved Steel-toed safety boots, Hard Hat, Gloves
Duties:
• Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade
• Fill hollows and remove high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete
• Operate power vibrator to compact concrete
• Level top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float
• Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools
• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete
• Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete
• Waterproof, damp-proof and restore concrete surfaces
• Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of floors, curb and gutters and other concrete structures
• Operate various equipment and machinery
• Pour and spread materials
• Tamp concrete using electric vibrator
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms. Measure lumber to ensure specified thickness, length and width as per blueprint/design specs
• Tie and place rebar, when required, within the concrete project
