Brampton Brick, located at 225 Wanless Drive, Brampton, Ontario, is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent laboratory technologist. Compensation is $34.07/hour. Language of work is English. Location of work: 225 Wanless Drive, Brampton, Ontario.
Duties for the position will include:
• Provide technical support in chemical and biochemical research and analysis, chemical quality control, and environmental protection in relation to clay/concrete production
• Test clay and concrete finished products for conformance to required product standards
• Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests and analyses using techniques such as absorption, freeze thaw, compressive strength, microscopy, carbonate analysis, sulfate analysis, chloride analysis, salt concentration analysis, and particular size analysis of the material for clay/concrete products
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus and prepare solutions of gas or liquid, reagents, and sample formulations in relation to testing of clay/concrete products
• Compile records and interpret experimental or analytical results
• Develop and conduct programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials, chemical intermediates and clay/concrete products
• Carry out research and development testing for new clay/concrete products including researching sustainable and recyclable materials
Suitable applicants will have at least two years of experience in quality control analysis (chemical or biological) with at least six months of that experience being directly related to the heavy clay/concrete industry. Two-year post-secondary diploma/degree in chemical, biochemical, or chemical engineering technology or a closely related discipline required.
