At this time, The North Transportation, is looking to hire an experienced Transport Truck Driver. The role of a Transport Truck Driver is crucial to the smooth operation of our services. We are seeking an individual who has the ability to operate a long-haul transport truck, ensure cargo is received accurately, and timely.
Job Description:
A Transport Truck Driver will be responsible for driving tractor-trailers to transport freight. Long-haul truck drivers will be operating heavy trucks over urban, interurban, and provincial routes in Canada.
Responsibilities:
• Operate and drive tractor trailers to transport goods and materials over long distances.
• Ensure freight is secured accurately in accordance with safety requirements.
• Record information such as hours of service, expenses, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
• Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspection of truck systems, accessories, and equipment as well as perform preventative maintenance.
• Maintaining responsibility for assuring safety by completing pre-trip inspections, trip planning, and following proper procedures when performing unloads. Report vehicle defects maintenance requirements.
• Plan trip administration and acquire any required documentation or information to transport goods.
• Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers, and customers effectively. As well as address customers’ complaints or concerns.
• Follow all safety procedures for transporting and securing any hazardous or dangerous goods.
Requirements:
• 13+ years of experience.
• Class A Driver’s Licence/Commercial Driver’s Licence.
• Clear driving record.
• Knowledge in safely operating and maintaining various types of dangerous goods.
• Knowledge and experience in operating large trucks and tractor-trailers.
