Job Summary:
Equipment Service Technician – Service Installations promptly installs, maintains, and repairs dental equipment. They contact vendors and co-ordinate repairs sent directly from customers and technicians to vendors. They are also responsible for communicating all aspects of repairs and estimates to customers, providing customer service for repair and maintenance inquiries. Furthermore, they will co-ordinate certification of non-compliant equipment inventory.
Duties:
• Installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of prefabricated equipment used in dental offices such as chairs, lights, x-ray machines, etc.
• Providing customer service to customers and other service technicians, as required, for troubleshooting, repair, testing, and maintenance inquiries identified through the installation process
• Inspecting and testing electronic equipment, components and assemblies using various tools and instruments found in dental offices
• Measure and mark guidelines to be used for installations
• Adjusting, aligning, replacing electronic equipment, assemblies and components following equipment manuals and work order specifications using soldering tools and other hand and power tools
• Creating, updating, and maintaining all dental equipment repair records as required through the installation process
• Complete work orders, billable labour and parts invoicing and work-related expense management accurately and on a timely basis, in accordance with company procedures and guidelines
• Returning defective parts to vendor for warranty replacement
• Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis
• Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures including WorldWide Business Standards
• Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments
• Having limited authority to make independent decisions and/or recommendations on matters of significant importance based on the exercise of discretion and independent judgment within the job duties
Supervision:
• This position reports to the Service Manager, Operations Manager, or Install Manager
• Assignments are periodically checked for progress by the immediate supervisor and/or executive committee
• This position has no authority over other members of the team and has no direct reports
Physical Activities:
• Frequent exposure to glare from computer
• Heavy unpacking, lifting, moving and packing of products (up to 100lbs) may be required
• This position will be working at customers’ sites or in a new construction environment using typical shop tools
• Exposure to electrical pressurized air and hot water during repair of equipment
• This position uses typical office equipment
Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• Completion of a post-secondary program in mechanical/electrical field is an asset
• 2+years’ experience in a Service/Equipment environment in the Dental Industry is required
• Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen
• Ability to effectively work through technical issues with clients
• Full G Class Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Excellent customer service skills, including verbal communication and listening
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to effectively support clients over the telephone
• Ability to troubleshoot and install various peripherals including printers, scanners, multimedia, video digital imaging and USB connected devices
• Must be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
• Proven time management and organizational skills, with experience in a fast-paced environment
