Position Summary:
The Supervisor of Driver Performance, Safety & Compliance is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant transportation services. This role involves monitoring driver performance, enforcing safety and compliance policies and coordinating dispatch operations. This position also serves as a key point of contact for drivers, addressing their concerns, providing training, and ensuring adherence to company and regulatory requirements.
Duties:
• Safety & Compliance (40%)
o Ensuring all drivers adhere to DOT, FMCSA, MTO, and company safety regulations
o Monitoring Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, ensuring all drivers operate within legal limits
o Overseeing Electronic Logging Device (ELD) usage, ensuring proper log entries and addressing violations
o Conducting pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, ensuring drivers meet compliance requirements
o Developing and implementing driver safety programs, including regular safety meetings and ongoing training
o Investigating accidents, violations, and near-miss incidents and implementing corrective actions and retraining where necessary
o Conducting random and post-incident drug and alcohol testing in compliance with company and regulatory requirements
o Ensuring compliance with hazardous material handling and transport regulations (if applicable)
o Assisting in auditing driver qualification files, ensuring all required certifications, medical cards, and licenses are up to date
o Working with the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to identify and mitigate safety hazards
o Maintaining accurate records of compliance reports, inspection logs, and incident investigations
• Performance Management (40%):
o Supervising and supporting drivers in their daily operations, providing guidance and assistance as needed
o Monitoring and evaluating driver performance metrics, including fuel efficiency, on-time deliveries, and service quality
o Identifying and addressing driver performance issues, implementing corrective actions and providing coaching
o Acting as a liaison between drivers, dispatchers, and management to resolve concerns and enhance productivity
o Conducting regular one-on-one meetings with drivers to discuss performance, concerns, and improvement plans
o Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and retention of drivers to maintain a reliable workforce
o Training workers in job duties
• Permits & Regulatory Compliance (20%):
o Ensuring all drivers and vehicles have the necessary permits, licenses and certifications for legal operation
o Maintaining compliance with oversize/overweight, trip, fuel, and special route permits as required
o Working closely with regulatory agencies to stay updated on permit requirements and renewals
o Tracking and coordinating permit applications, expirations, and renewals to avoid disruptions in operations
o Ensuring compliance with IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) and IRP (International Registration Plan) reporting requirements
o Maintaining records of all permit-related documents, ensuring accessibility during audits or inspections
o Requisitioning supplies and materials as needed
Requirements:
• Completion of a post-secondary education program of two to three years in business, supply chain, production, manufacturing management or a related discipline is required
• 3+ years’ experience in safety & compliance or as a fleet/logistics specialist is required
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite
• Proven ability to supervise staff and provide day-to-day budget management
• Enjoys working with a team and can work cooperatively with others across the organization to meet shared objectives
• Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)

• Organized and able to manage workflows systematically
