Job Description:
The Facility HSE Advisor is mobilised to one of our facilities in Canada. The incumbent will support our teams in ensuring a safe work environment for all. They will be working as part of a team of Manufacturing Manager, Supervisors, Quality Assurance Specialist and Administrator. The role is a mix of office documentation of the work and, on site work to ensure full compliance of projects.
Duties:
• Ensuring fulfillment of HSE requirements, following the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plan in compliance with Company standards, customer requirements and Government regulations;
• Supporting the Manufacturing Manager for HSE management and safety instructions implementation for our workers and partners;
• Acting as the main local liaison with customer HSE organization(s) and provincial regulatory agencies;
• Preparing weekly and monthly statistics HSE reports;
• Providing assistance in the implementation and update of the health, safety and environmental plan
• Providing assistance in identification of risks and definition of control measures (through safe work procedure, Job Safety Analysis);
• Carrying out and recording regular safety checks and safety inspections;
• Providing assistance in Tool-box talks;
• Coordinating the safety committee;
• Recording and investigating accidents and incidents;
• Performing Root Cause Analysis on HSE issues;
• Coordinating health, safety, and environmental aspects of industrial activities;
• Providing introduction training and facility-specific health, safety, and environmental training;
• Coordinating required safety trainings;
• Coordinating First Aid rescue, First Aid responders and Fire Protection programs;
• Proposing immediate correction of a HSE deficiency;
• Checking if HSE corrections from deficiency are effective;
• Ensuring that OHSAS 180001, ISO 14001 and COR programs are maintained at site;
• Supporting the execution of internal audits in facilities and coordinating external audits; and
• Coordinating with Workers Compensation as required.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE management on a construction site or in heavy industry
• A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in health and safety or equivalent is required
• Knowledge of Provincial Construction Safety legislation
• Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard identification, as well as expertise in safety management systems like ISO 45001
• Experience in dealing with a unionized environment
• Excellent English, general communication and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, including knowledge of OSHA, ISO standards, and local safety regulations
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address safety issues and develop effective solutions
• Communication skills and the ability to deliver safety messages across all levels of the organization
• The ability to conduct thorough accident investigations, manage emergency response protocols, and perform safety audits
• Familiarity with incident reporting systems, ergonomics, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Leadership and the ability to design and implement training programs are vital to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement
• Ability to work in a complex, fast-pace environment with evolving priorities.
