Drywall Finisher (NOC: 73102) to fill 5 F/T vacancies in the Mississauga and surrounding area (3175 Airway Dr, Mississauga, ON L4V 1C2).
The position of “Drywall Finisher” is a skilled role, in which the Drywall Finisher provides the overall on-site administrative and technical management for a project, while ensuring the total constructive efforts are in accordance with the plans and specifications.
$47.07 - $49.79 per hour.
Benefits include:
• Permanent full time at 30-40 hours a week.
• Overtime after 44 hours a week and on weekends, paid at time and a half;
• Benefits as per union agreement
• Remuneration of 10% for vacation time
Responsibilities include:
• Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings
• Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
• Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets
• Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation
• Install exterior and interior steel studs
• Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath
• Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
• Apply and finish taping compounds to joints, corners, and seams of drywall panels to create a smooth, paint-ready surface
• Operate hand and power tools such as taping knives, trowels, sanders, and automatic taping systems
• Review and follow wall and ceiling layouts to ensure all joints, beads, and trim are addressed with precision
• Shape and feather edges around cutouts for mechanicals to ensure seamless integration
• Apply surface coatings and finishing materials in areas requiring thermal or acoustic treatments
• Finish drywall assemblies across various substrates, including steel-stud framing, bulkheads, and specialty architectural features
• Embed and smooth fiberglass tape or paper tape at all joints using multiple coats of compound
• Use laser alignment tools to verify surface levelness and consistency during the finishing process
• Secure and blend corner beads, reveals, and trims using compound and mesh to reinforce corners and create crisp edges
• Work at heights on scaffolding or swing stages
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
• Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
