Nations Fresh Foods is a leading supermarket specializing in the best Asian fresh food shopping experience and destination for prepared meals from around the world. We operate five locations in Hamilton, Downtown Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and Vaughan.
Nations Fresh Foods offers our shoppers a wide selection of products, groceries, dairy, fruits, snacks, dry food, and daily necessities locally and imported from overseas. We are looking for an assistant Store Manager at the Hamilton store. This is a full-time permanent position working at Unit 445, 2 King Street West, Hamilton, Ontario, L8P1A2 (Jackson Square). The Assistant Store Manager oversees day-to-day activities, ensuring the store runs smoothly and efficiently.
We offer a competitive salary of $42.8 per hour for 35 hours per week, with two weeks of paid vacation annually.
Duties
• Support the store manager in various aspects of store operations, including employee management, inventory control, customer service, sales goals, etc.
• Supervise and support department supervisors and frontline staff, ensuring alignment with service, cleanliness, food safety standards, and efficient daily store operations.
• Oversee inventory control across departments and collaborate with suppliers and logistics teams to ensure just-in-time deliveries and optimal stock rotation.
• Oversee food handling protocols and ensure all food departments meet corporate policies in freshness, cleanliness, food safety, hygiene and service benchmarks.
• Resolve escalated customer issues concerning food quality, pricing, service, etc. and ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Monitor service standards and implement improvements when necessary.
• Support promotional and in-store marketing campaigns to drive customer engagement and sales.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets and controlling operational costs.
• Take responsibility for store operations in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
Requirements
1. Completion of a college diploma or above is required.
2. At least 1 year of supervisory or assistant management experience in a food supermarket or retail grocery establishment.
3. Experience and skills in managing customer relationships.
4. We specialize in Asian products. Candidates with knowledge and experience with supermarket retailers with similar product inventory from that region are an asset, but are not a requirement.
5. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
6. Comfortable working in temperature-variable environments, like coolers and freezers.
7. Be familiar with MS Office, database and inventory management software.
8. Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as store operations require.
