Position Overview
A private household in Burnaby, BC is seeking a warm, reliable, and organized Child Caregiver to provide full-time support in a home setting. The caregiver will be responsible for the day-to-day well-being, development, and safety of children, including infants. This position is ideal for someone who is experienced with early childhood routines and committed to creating a nurturing, structured, and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and care for children in a private home setting, ensuring their physical safety and emotional comfort.
• Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children according to age-appropriate needs.
• Prepare bottles, sterilize feeding equipment, and change diapers for infants.
• Plan and prepare healthy meals and snacks for children, taking into account dietary needs and family preferences.
• Organize daily routines and oversee children’s activities including playtime, nap time, and meal times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly home environment.
• Teach and encourage proper personal hygiene habits.
• Support children's emotional and social development through positive reinforcement and interactive communication.
• Follow the family’s preferred approach to discipline and behavior guidance.
• Provide stimulating learning opportunities through games, crafts, reading, and outdoor play.
• Accompany children to and from school, appointments, or local activities when needed.
• May assist with light household duties related to childcare, such as tidying toys or children's laundry.
• May be required to keep records of children’s daily activities and relevant health or behavioral information.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1–7 months of relevant childcare experience.
• Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (required).
• Clear Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector screening.
• Comfortable lifting up to 9 kg (20 lbs) and meeting the physical demands of active childcare.
• English Communication skills
